The common and well-known LED chips brands on the market are nothing more than CREE in the United States, PHILIPS in the Netherlands, Osram in Austria, San’an in China, Nichia in Japan, and countless other brands that have achieved accomplishments in the field of SMD patch LED chips and have a certain history.
In fact, it is quite interesting to review the evolution and development of LED chips. From the earliest LED chips, they are not as efficient and compact as modern LED chips. Early gallium arsenide LED chips showed red light with very low brightness, and silicon carbide LED showed blue light with low lighting efficiency, so they were not widely used. After evolving into gallium nitride LED in the middle period, it was able to present high-brightness blue light, and then gradually expanded to the scope of commercial applications. Finally, it began to be somewhat practical. After all, the brightness was improved. At the same stage, an indium phosphide LED was derived, which showed green light and medium brightness. After the tireless research and development of different scientists, the much-anticipated modern LED chips have been ushered in. Modern LED chips are a mixture of gallium nitride and indium phosphide. While achieving high-efficiency lighting, they also present white light. Modern LEDs have been perfectly popularized in every household. For some countries that still use halogen lamps as outdoor lighting fixtures, their governments are also making every effort to promote lamp renewal and optimization projects, gradually eliminating halogen lamps and installing more energy-saving and efficient LED lamps.
First of all, high-quality LED chips must have a certain breakthrough in lumen output efficiency. The lumen efficiency of SMD patch LED chips on the market is usually in the range of 100-180lm/W. Even at some lighting exhibitions, we have encountered some companies that have developed LED chips with a lumen efficiency higher than 200lm/w. Higher luminous efficiency means that we can achieve higher lumen values at the same energy loss, or save more losses at the same brightness. Therefore, the innovation and progress of LED chips luminous efficiency have many benefits, so people are more inclined to use more efficient LED chips for their own lamps, whether it is outdoor lamps powered by mains electricity, or even solar lamps, which are very energy-saving and efficient LED chips. High-brightness LED chips are undoubtedly the best choice.
Of course, high-brightness LED chips are the preferred choice of lighting manufacturers, but another important factor that lighting manufacturers will consider is cost. High-brightness LED chips usually mean that the brand or company has invested a lot of R&D costs. Therefore, while lighting manufacturers enjoy the advantages brought by high-quality and high-efficiency LED chips, they must also bear higher costs to purchase these high-quality LED chips. This is why different lighting products on the market are uneven.
At the same time, some people will say, "The LED chips I bought are not international brands, but the brightness can still reach very high. These international brands are just a premium for show." As a lighting manufacturer, Rice Lighting will also constantly look for high-quality LED chips and conduct tests. We will indeed find some high-brightness LED chips from unknown brands, but when we sent these LED chips to professional laboratories for LED chips aging tests, we found clues. These so-called "high-brightness affordable LED chips" generally have two situations: the first is that a LED chips is actually integrated into a LED chips with multiple smaller LED chips, creating an illusion of low wattage but high brightness. This kind of LED chips can indeed be very bright, but the power consumption will also be greatly increased. At the same time, there will be high heat generation and insufficient heat dissipation; the second situation is that the brightness of the LED chips is indeed very high, and it is also a single LED chips, but the life of the LED chips is very short, and the luminous efficiency increases inversely with the luminous time, that is, the light decay is serious.
Light decay is a term often mentioned in LED lamps. It can be obtained through IES-LM-80 test. Simply put, it is the process of LED light source reducing light intensity due to aging. Usually the life of LED chips is more than 10000-x hours. This life means that the light decay should not exceed 3% within these 10000-x hours.
Light decay does not exceed 0% within 1000 hours
Light decay does not exceed 1% within 3000 hours
Light decay does not exceed 3% within 10000 hours
Light decay is controlled within 30% within 50000 hours and is considered qualified
So the choice of LED chips is not that simple. The reason why we choose some well-known brands is that these LED chips have strong stability and are more reliable. Only LED chips that can achieve breakthrough brightness and withstand tests such as light decay are the LED chips that we dare to use as a lighting factory.
In summary, this is why we use international brand LED chips. Our Rice Lighting LED lighting fixtures, whether indoor or outdoor, use CREE, PHILIPS and SANAN brand LED chips, which are high brightness and reliable.
